and Recommendation 7 to the referenced FY 2023-2024 Report. Please contact me if you have any questions or require additional information. Sincerely, Sonia M. De La Rosa County Administrative Officer Enclosures WWW.CO.MONTEREY.CA.US CGJ update request, dated 1/28/25 : The CGJ is requesting information on the status of new projects identified by the Health for youth drug awareness/education and prevention funded by CTF. In addition, please provide any information regarding new projects that have been funded. Response to request: The Health Department, Public Health Bureau does not currently receive cannabis tax revenue for youth drug awareness/education and prevention services. However, Public Health does receive other funding for existing programs that prevent and reduce substance use among youth in the areas of cannabis, tobacco, vaping and opioids. In the County’s response to the Superior Court on August 1, 2024, the Health Department intended to identify a potential request for funding for new youth substance use prevention strategies. Subsequently, Public Health applied for and received funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety to support new substance use prevention strategies aimed at reducing youth drugged driving. Consequently, the Health Department’s focus is now on developing and implementing this newly funded program. In the future, the Health Department may again consider making a request for funding to support additional strategies for youth substance use prevention. Updated to R7: Due to declining CTF revenues, and that the Health Department has been successful in securing state funding for prevention services, the Health Department does not intend to ask for CTF revenues from the County of Board of Supervisors.
