Those staff members who are creating a very positive influence on the Wards be recognized for their outstanding performance. Response Respondent agrees with both of the above recommendations. Under separate cover, the Chief of Probation has responded to the above recommendations and stated: "Madera County Probation staff is recognized every July during "Probation, Parole, and Pre-Trial Services Week" with a barbeque and raffle. This year the Department plans on having additional barbeques since the facility is a 24-hour operation and it is difficult for many of those employees to attend. Therefore, the facility's Deputy Chief and Chief Probation Officer plan on having Team barbeques during each Team shift so that each employee can be recognized and commended for their services and contributions to the betterment of the Department, County, and its citizens. This year the Department's "Officer of the Year" had its first co-winners and (2) Juvenile Detention Officers, Jose Macias and Tom Okano, were both recognized for their contributions to the Department, County, and its citizens. They were also recently recognized at the annual Elk's and Kiwanis's "Officer of the Year Awards and Dinner." This year we plan on recognizing all detention staff individually at the Team barbeques mentioned in
