was the item addressing one of our schools. The school administrative assistant and principal both identified the stranger outside of the school and the administrative assistant identified herself and asked what he was doing there at 7:15 a.m. He thanked her for inquiring. The principal saw his badge. The gate was open and monitored. We had our principal, Mrs. William, in the crosswalk of the driveway greeting the students and families. Her name tag was under the orange vest. I do agree it was not visible, but all the children and families do know the principal of the school and as soon as school starts, she would be removing the vest and her badge would be visible. The gate was open and monitored by Mrs. Williams on the outside and campus supervisors on the inside of the gate. This cannot be seen from the sideway across the street. School personnel do wear badges and there is a sign in and out procedure in place once the children are in school for the day. Every child is not signed in through the office at the beginning of the day. They are walked to their assigned classroom spots on the blacktop where they wait for their teacher each day. There are campus supervisors and teachers supervising that area as well until their teacher arrives at 8:10 a.m. to take them to class. All of our principals have attended the threat assessment workshop given by our Ventura County Schools Office this year. We appreciate your recommendations and will work in cooperation with our resource officer, Deputy Cobian as we do when writing our Safe School Plans and Evacuation Procedures. Sincerely, RECEIVED Jacam Michael MAY 31 2013 RaeAnne Michael VENTURA COUNTYGRAND JURY
