Related Recommendations (1)
R2
– The recommendation has not yet been implemented. Rio Vista will be making an effort through an updated web site and increased social media broadcasts to insure pet owners are aware of and follow the state, county and local regulations. Rio Vista will amend our local ordinance for dog registration to align with state law.
F3
– The City of Rio Vista does not agree with the finding. One single point of contact for animal services covering all agencies in the county would be more confusing for residents rather than better. In the City of Rio Vista, we already have one non-emergency number to use for all law enforcement related services that our residents to use which includes animal services. To change would cause confusion and result in a delay in providing services as residents are either transferred to the new number or try to research it. Our police officers respond to animal calls when animal service officers are not available and take appropriate care of an animal until animal service officers can respond.

R4
- Rio Vista has already begun to work with animal service officers from HAS to increase enforcement efforts in citing violators of animal licensing laws. In addition to HAS, our Code Enforcement officer has also started using municipal ordinance violations as a tool to insure compliance. This effort will continue in the future and may include use of police officers as needed.

- The City of Rio Vista agrees that SACA and the Veterinarians should work together to create a program to increase the number of licensed animals in Solano County. Sincerely, Dan Dailey, Chief of Police . .
