The Public Works and Probation Departments have begun investigation into the Grand Jury report’s findings and concern that the drinking fountain water in the Napa County Juvenile Hall has a metallic taste. A plan to address this issue will be developed and implemented as determined to be necessary within the six months recommended by the Grand Jury. As indicated in Finding No. 4, the water from the drinking fountains meets the secondary drinking water standards as required by the State Department of Health Services. The departments will pursue solutions to make the water more aesthetically pleasing to the juveniles residing in Juvenile Hall. Once palatable water is available from the water fountains in NCHH, that NCPWD conduct regular waste taste tests. Response, Public Works Director: The recommendation will not be implemented by the Public Works Department. It is not a standard practice for the Public Works Department to conduct water taste tests in any of the County buildings. Public Works tests water quality and safety as required by law. The Public Works Department staff will rely on Probation Department staff to monitor the aesthetic qualities of the drinking water in the Napa County Juvenile Hall and report any concerns or issues to the Public Works 2 . . .
