  Human Resources RES-2019-620 Approve a New Classification and Job Description of Fire Prevention Inspector I/II; Set the Fire Prevention Inspector I Monthly Salary Range at $3,127.10-$3,801.00; Set the Fire Prevention Inspector II Monthly Salary Range at $3,991.08-$4,851.16; and Assign the Fire Prevention Inspector I/II Classification to the SEIU Bargaining Unit Board of Supervisors October 22, 2019 Page 5 Kim Williams gave the staff report noting that the allocation was already approved and this this item is to create the job description. During public comment, Tom Sweeney noted that he understood that fire inspections were part of the CAL FIRE contract and inquired as to why inspections are not part of that. Kim Williams noted that the contract in question was before her tenure and requested that Bernie Quinn/Division Chief respond to the question. Chief Quinn noted that inspections are still included in the contract and that they are providing those inspections but that these would be in addition. Supervisor Long advised that he remembers the discussion with CAL FIRE and noted that it was discussed that we would probably have to hire one or two additional people to catch up and maintain the inspections. Supervisor Jones and Ms. Williams discussed the disparity in pay between this position and Animal Control. Ms. Williams noted that the entry level position would not be issuing citations. Supervisor Cann spoke in support of upwardly mobile positions because they increase our ability to get the right people in the job. Mr. Goger noted that items 5, 6, and 7 all support the home partnership program which item 8 is a different program is needed to apply for the grant.
