TheDistrictcannot commentonotherdistricts’ policies and/or guidelines around the use of AI platforms. As it pertains to Brea Olinda Unified School District, we have establishedan AITaskforce withthegoal ofestablishingAI guidelinesfor staff andstudentsbyJune 2025.

By June 30, 2025, Orange County’s K-12 schools should implement policiesandguidelines regarding the appropriate use of AI. These may be provided at thedistrictlevelor within individual schools through the adoption of an Acceptable Use Policy, Code of Ethics, or other writtendirectives addressingthe useofAI. The District hasnotyetimplementedthis recommendationbut willimplement this recommendationbyJune 30, 2025, with the following action plan: District AI Taskforce established with regular and consistent meetings with educational partners who willhelp informpolicies andguidelines. TheDistrict’sfurther analysisregarding this recommendation will be completed and reviewed by the District's superintendent, who will inform the governingboard beforeDecember 13,2024.

There are many resources to guide educatorsin using AI. Several areavailable atthe local level through the Orange County Department of Education, Orange County Board of Education, CEO Leadership Alliance Orange County, and Orange Unified School District Technology Department, to name a few. However, utilization and even awareness of the availability of suchresourcesis highly variableacross school districts. The District partially disagrees with the finding. The District does nothave firsthandinformationregarding the utilization and awareness of the availability of the AI resources across school districts. As it pertains to Brea OlindaUnifiedSchool District, ourdistrictactively participatesin AImeetingsat OCDE, consultswithotherAI leaders in this field, including other district superintendents. Brea Olinda UnifiedSchoolDistrict alsolooks to legalfirms, state,and federaldepartments ofeducationfor guidance.
