Findings & Recommendations 5 findings
F1: During the inspection it was noted the dining area is understaffed by officers and can present a 18 significant risk of violence towards inmates and staff.
F2: Calipatria State Prison has a front gate that is not staffed at all. This could be a potential danger, as undesirable visitors might get onto the grounds with weapons and/or other contraband.
F3: The facility is well run, with extensive inmate programs to include a peer support pilot program.
F4: There has been a rise in fentanyl overdoses; Imperial County jail management reported to having Narcan available in all units to help alleviate this growing national problem.
F5: The medical unit needs office furniture replacements, as current furniture items are damaged.
